The clocks have sprung forward, bringing lighter nights, brighter days, green shoots of growth and finally a sense of energy after the long Winter! Construction jobs which have come through the coldest and wettest days hopefully see some respite and many new site and DIY projects planned over the Winter months can finally begin. As we come to the end of March, we’re looking forward to our new financial year in April which we’ve been planning for several months now.

With the new year, comes another tranche of equipment deliveries which we’re excited to share with customers and provide even more reliability and choice in the months ahead. New scissor lifts, articulated booms, telehandlers, survey kit and battery tools are pending delivery so keep an eye on our website and social posts and of course we’ll be updating you here too.

Update on Days Road fire

Following the fire which devastated our premises at Days Road on Boxing Day, we are now settled back into our former premises at Little George St and it’s almost like we never left!

We lost around 20% of our Bristol depot fleet in the fire, which was caused by thermal runaway in a lithium-ion battery. This is a self-feeding situation where a faulty cell overheats and creates a domino effect. The increased temperature releases more energy which, in turn, creates more heat in other cells and spreads the fire exponentially. No batteries were on charge in the warehouse at the time.

We are looking forward to getting back to Days Road when the repair work has been completed, although we have no timescale for that at present. For the moment, it’s business as usual and we’re back to welcoming visitors to our Bristol helpdesk, as we were when we opened on 3 January. If you haven’t seen the video of how quickly the fire took hold, we have made the footage available on our Linkedin account here to make other companies aware of the potential dangers.

Our contact details haven’t changed and when work does start, we have set up a dedicated page on our website to keep customers updated of progress on the refurbishment works.

New Area Sales Manager and Team Members

Since Nick Lewis took on the role of Key Account Manager in January, we have been recruiting for a new Area Sales Manager to fill the vacancy that Nick’s promotion created!

We are so pleased to welcome Matt Evans to the team as Area Sales Manager starting on April 3rd. We’ll be introducing Matt to you in our April newsletter along with our new Hire & Sales Controller in Bristol and two new delivery drivers you will be seeing on the rounds. Due to our increasing growth, we still have vacancies for a Workshop Technician and additional Multi-Drop Drivers, so if you or someone you know are looking for a new role, check out the Careers pages of our website for more information on how to apply.

Good Food, Friends and Flats for a Fab Evening in Bath

The Beckford Bottle Shop was the venue for the first in an upcoming series of events for us with ex England and Bath rugby and TV pundit, David Flatman. We were very pleased to have a great group of friends and customers along with our MD, Brett Thompson, Nick Lewis and Sales Director, James Mulrooney. The event was covered by Mediaclash for their Bath Life Diary pages and produced some great photos of a great evening.

Flats will be joining us for several events over the next few months as the Rugby season concludes and Summer horse racing begins! We’ll be featuring more of those in our future editions so look out for more photos!

Spring/Summer Hires – Tigerbite
We’re seeing an increasing demand for our Tigerbite mini-crushers since introducing them to our product range this year.

With reduction of recycling a high priority for all, this compact crusher has the power to crush 6-8 tonnes of building waste, such as concrete, brick, slabs, blocks and rubble down to just 25ml. Many customers then re-use this as sub-base rather than pay for waste removal. Those who do pay for it are improving skip-fill rates threefold.

You can see Tigerbite in action here and get in touch with us if you need any advice on usage or hire rates.

Also don’t forget that all our used hire equipment sales are available to buy on our website as we onboard our new kit. So keep your eyes peeled for some bargains to be had!

Don’t forget to follow our social channels on,Facebook, Twitter, Insta and Linkedin, for regular updates of all new arrivals to the fleet.
You’ll know from everything we do that quality and service are paramount so do let us know if there is anything we can do to make your hiring and buying experience easier.

That’s it for our Spring edition! But we’ll be back in April to update you on our latest developments, so watch this space!

Until next month!

Best wishes

James Mulrooney
